The ability to do local serches are now online and ready to go. It is in the Searches menu at the top and Search by Location. Click on the map to where you want to search.

Not a great deal of members will show up in your community yet as they have not updated their profile with the correct Country, City, State area.

I guess if one doesn't live in one of the "larger" cities listed in the correct "Planet, Hemisphere, Continent, Country, City, and State" in the drop down menu, one is screwed.

When will the UK be updated to include cities outside London?

Yes, other cities are being added. Also, other ways are being working on.
